Dual Shades

Dual Shades: Like Magic!

You probably love the idea of bringing light into your home. But, too much is overwhelming. Living in the Fort Myers area, there are times when blocking the light is necessary. Now, the dual shades feature, called Duolite®, is giving you a tremendous range of control within one shade system.

  • Two shades, one headrail
  • Filter light for soft ambiance
  • Block light easily

One shade is meant to allow dynamic view-through and softened lighting. The secondary shade portion blocks the light. While this may look a little different whether you choose honeycomb shades, dual roller shades, dual sheer shades or woven shades, the result is the same: An atmosphere that is transformed by the adjustment of your window shades. Find out more about the Hunter Douglas Duolite® system.

Honeycomb Dual Shades

A dual shade system exclusive to Hunter Douglas cellular shades, two shades are joined in the middle. The top shade is considered light filtering, while the bottom shade is typically room darkening. The window can be covered completely with the light filtering shade, or the sun can be completely blocked with the just the room darkening portion. For a balance of lighting, the shades can be adjusted to feature light filtering on the top of the window and room darkening at the bottom. This is similar to a top down feature, controlling the amount of light and views available.

Secondary Roller Shade

Well-known for homeowners searching for dual shades, this version features two shades that share one headrail. This consists of two individual shades: a front light-filtering (or view-through shade) and a secondary blackout roller shade behind. While both shades can simultaneously be rolled into the headrail, many homeowners love to keep the front shade lowered into place all the time. The secondary blackout roller shade adjusts down into position to control the light–either part way down, or all of the way down.

Honeycomb Shade with Wovens

An exclusive dual shade feature, our Hunter Douglas woven shades can now be outfitted with a secondary cellular shade. The Provenance Woven Wood collection is very popular for its beautiful woven textured fabrics and color schemes. Natural fibers easily filter entering light for dramatic beauty. The popularity of this window covering product is only limited when clients also want room darkening and energy efficiency. Now, it’s available! The secondary honeycomb shade can lower into place when lighting and temperature needs to be controlled more.
